In November, we hosted students from Thurston Community College as part of their Health and Social Care course. They worked with members of the nursing, care and domestic teams to complete their unit on Infection Prevention and Control looking at how this is used in a real-life setting. The students’ particularly enjoyed practical activities including looking at the importance of hand washing in a nursing home. Feedback from the students about the day was extremely positive with huge compliments to the home, staff and residents. We are looking to replicate this experience with other schools and are proud to be inspiring a new generation to consider a career path in Health and Social Care!

The Comforting Magic of Animals in Dementia Care
At Stow Healthcare, we see every day how meaningful connection, familiar routines and moments of comfort can make a real difference to those living with dementia. One beautiful example of this is the special bond many of our residents share with animals. Across our homes, animals play a much-loved role in daily life.
