Stow in the Snow brings festive joy

‘Stow in the Snow’ returned for its second year to help provide meaningful Christmas activities within the homes and engage staff, residents and their families all together at this special time of year.

Categories were chosen by staff and residents ranging from best ‘Winter Wonderland’, to best table decoration or festive floral arrangement, there was something for everyone to get involved with. The ‘Best Decorated Christmas Tree’ across our group was shared on social media and the winner chosen by staff, relatives and members of the public.

The winners were decided by judges from Suffolk County Council; Julie Martin, Provider Support Lead and Georgie Stevens contracts officer who were invited to share their expertise on Crafts, Creations and all things festive to judge the competition. After some extremely difficult decisions and much deliberation the overall winners were decided. Melford Court claimed 3 ‘Best in Stow’ rosettes, ‘Best Christmas Photograph’ went to cheeky chappy Alfie how put on his best cheeky elf smile for our Elf day celebrations. Phyllis took the overall crown for the ‘Best Christmas Wreath’ the judges were impressed by Phyllis high quality creation despite her limited sight. Well done Phyllis. The third award went to the window display made by residents as part of the ‘Best Winter Wonderland’ Category.

Melford was also awarded a special recognition award for this year’s competition entries for the Impact and Involvement from residents. Well done to everyone who took part!
