Join us for our next Dementia Cafe on Tuesday 28th October
Open to all in the wider community, this session is specifically designed for people living with dementia, and their carers.
On Wednesday 24th September, the home launched its very first Dementia Café, a new monthly initiative welcoming up to eight people living with dementia and their carers. Guests enjoyed tea, coffee, and homemade cakes, dementia-friendly activities, and an informative talk. Attendees were also able to connect with experts and gather useful information to support their journey. From now on, the Dementia Café will run on the last Wednesday of every month, and if you’re interested we encourage you to contact the home to express your interest, we would love to have you!
On the same day, Brandon Park also welcomes the Dementia Friendly Barbers, a specialist service dedicated to providing safe, reassuring grooming experiences for people living with dementia (www.dementiafriendlybarbers.co.uk). For the last cafe, the team offered several Brandon Park residents the opportunity for a shave or haircut in an environment designed to rekindle familiar memories. Brandon Park and the team at Dementia Friendly Barbers are keen to offer this service to those who need it within our community. Anyone living with dementia, and those who care for them are welcome to come to our cafe, meet with like minded people, enjoy refreshments and possible even sit down for a traditional shave and a trim.
To ensure a relaxed and personal experience, spaces are limited to just eight people living with dementia and their carers, so please note that places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
To register your interest, please contact Brandon Park on 01842 810 500 or email enquiries@brandonpark.co.uk
