Halstead Hall is a beautiful residential care home, owned and operated by Stow Healthcare Group for the Catchpole family. We pride ourselves on providing premium residential care in a beautifully renovated 19th Century manor house. Our family values and desire for excellence enable us to offer a service that is unrivalled.
At Halstead Hall each resident can choose between three levels of historic suite; all offering:
Importantly, each suite can be personalised to allow you to turn Halstead into your home. In addition to premium residential care and well-appointed suites, Halstead Hall provides beautifully maintained gardens, and private areas for residents to enjoy.
Named after the historic village of Gosfield, known for its 16th-century country house and beautiful lake, our brand-new Gosfield Suites offer premium accommodation in our newly refurbished wing, adjacent to the main house. Each suite provides a comfortable, spacious bedroom with a wet-room en-suite bathroom and boasts views over the garden.
Our Coggeshall Suites are named after the historic local town of Coggeshall, famed for its weekly market that has run since 1256AD. The Coggeshall suite offers premium accommodation in the main house. All Coggeshall suites provide beautifully appointed bedrooms that include newly refurbished wet-room en-suite bathrooms.
Our Hedingham Suites are named after the famous Hedingham Castle and Castle Hedingham and Sible Hedingham villages. The Headingham Suites offer premium accommodation in the Main House and recent extension at Halstead Hall. All Hedingham Suites provide our largest bedrooms, all of which are generous enough to accommodate couples and include en-suite bathrooms.
*Please note that most en-suite bathrooms include a toilet and wash basin. Specialised mobility baths and showers are provided in larger bathrooms.
Named after the River Colne and historic village of Earls Colne, each Colne Suite offers well appointed rooms for our residents. All Colne Suites provide comfortable single occupancy accommodation, all with en-suite bathrooms.

Daily life at Halstead Hall is a mixture of enjoyable social events and peaceful relaxation.
For those residents wishing to keep themselves occupied, our activities coordinators arrange a busy schedule of interesting and varied activities. Our regular events include singing, painting, cards and other board games, movie afternoons, reminiscence and poetry readings, as well as regular live music performances. Importantly, relatives and friends are always encouraged to join in. Residents who do not wish to take part in groups activities are given time on a one to one basis, allowing them enjoyable conversation and providing them with company.
Additionally, larger events are organised on a yearly basis, such as coffee mornings, and trips to local attractions. Whatever your interest, there is something at Halstead Hall for you.
At Halstead Hall each resident can choose between two levels of historic suite; both offering generous living accommodation, quality furnishings, access point for a private telephone line, digital TV connection, and access to all communal facilities. Importantly, each suite can be personalised to allow you to turn Halstead Hall into your home. In addition to premium residential care and well-appointed suites, Halstead Hall provides three acres of beautifully maintained gardens, and private areas for residents to enjoy.
Halstead hall fees include 24-hour premium care, fine linens, in-house laundry, freshly prepared meals from our professional kitchen, and regular social functions.
At Halstead Hall we recognise the importance of food, not just as a source of nutrition, but for the way in which it encourages our residents to socialise, reminisce and celebrate. Our meals are freshly cooked, nutritionally balanced and served in gorgeous surroundings to encourage residents to enjoy their mealtimes.
We look to the seasons to inspire change in our menus and take care to prepare dishes that reflect food our residents have been used to enjoying throughout their lives as well as encouraging residents to try something new!
We cater for a variety of dietary requirements and benefit from staff with training (up to degree level) in nutrition, who work closely with the care and catering staff to ensure good levels of nutrition are maintained. Food can be enjoyed in your own room should you so choose.
Hedingham Castle & Gardens
Hedingham Castle, in the village of Castle Hedingham, Essex, is arguably the best preserved Norman keep in England. The castle fortifications and outbuildings were built around 1100, and the keep around 1140. However, the keep is the only major medieval structure that has survived, albeit less two turrets. Colne Valley Railway
